Sex-Linked Genes: Sex-Linked Genes are not difficult to work with, however, they are an intermediate as far as breeding time. In short, when using sex-linked genes, all cocks (progeny) will resemble the dam and all hens will resemble the sire. Examples of sex-linked expressions are reduced, dilute, almond, brown, ash red and faded. Situation #1 Non-almond cock mated to a almond hen will produce almond cocks and non-almond hens. Mating #2 Blue cock mated to a ash-red hen will produce ash-red cocks and blue hens. Mating #3 Brown cock mated to an ash-red hen will produce ash-red cocks and brown hens. Mating #4 Blue cock split brown mated to an ash-red hen will produce all ash-red cocks and 50% brown hens and 50% blue hens. |
